The city of Berlin was founded in the 13th century and became the capital of the entire country with the reunification of Germany in 1990. It is located near the border with Poland, traversed by the Spree River, the Havel River, and their tributaries.
Around the intense urban landscape, beautiful forested areas with small and large lakes spread out.
With a population close to 3.5 million inhabitants, it has served as the capital of various states in the past and as the residence of kings and emperors. An important center of northern Europe in all sectors—economic, commercial, political, and cultural. At the end of World War II, Berlin was divided into four occupation zones, and in 1961 it was split with the construction of the Berlin Wall, which was demolished in 1989. The city was reunited in 1990 and has been continuously upgraded since then.
The city has a temperate climate, with cool summers and particularly cold winters. Spring and autumn are relatively cool seasons. In the city center, the temperature is higher than in the suburbs and neighboring areas.
Berlin was and still is a center of cultural expression, and many artists from all over the world reside there, aspiring to create and achieve international recognition. Also, a large number of foreign students study at the city's universities.
