It takes effort to play on Linux.
    1. http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/ubuntu
    2. sudo apt install dkms
    3. chmod +x ./displaylink-driver-XXX.run
    4. sudo ./displaylink-driver-XXX.run

And this alone is not enough. To get the display port to work, you need to disable UEFI from the BIOS.
And after that, I had random disconnects. It seems to have been resolved for now with this.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/DisplayLink#Displays_disconnect_at_random_intervals_when_using_the_Dell_D6000_docking_station

Displays disconnect at random intervals when using the Dell D6000 docking station.
Users have reported that when using the Dell D6000 docking station, their display(s) may disconnect at random intervals during usage. This will require physically reconnecting the dock in order to reinitialize the displays.

This issue appears to be caused by PulseAudio's module-suspend-on-idle module, which automatically suspends sinks/sources on idle.

To disable loading of the module-suspend-on-idle module, comment out the following line in the configuration file in use (~/.config/pulse/default.pa or /etc/pulse/default.pa):

    /etc/pulse/default.pa
    ### Automatically suspend sinks/sources that become idle for too long
    # load-module module-suspend-on-idle

The rating is because it also makes a strange noise as if it has a hard drive inside and for the value for money.

    Update
After upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04, things are even worse. Random freezes in the image while everything runs in the background. The only way to restore is with a hard reset.

    Update
The random freezes are because 22.04 has Wayland as the default windowing system instead of Xorg. For now, after switching to Xorg, it seems to be stable again.

I have connected 2 extra monitors to an M1 Macbook Air and it works perfectly even with the Macbook's lid closed. It is not ideal for portability since its power supply is the same size as the dock.

Pairing with Mac Mini M1 via Type-C on Big Sur 11.2. I connected one monitor via HDMI to the Mac, and two (1x HDMI, 1x DP), the Ethernet, and audio, and it works fine.

The only problem I have is that while in ShutDown/Sleep/Restart the dock goes into sleep mode normally (orange light instead of white), when the Mac wakes up, the dock does not wake up, resulting in having to either unplug the USB from the Mac or the power cable from the dock to wake it up. Obviously, Dell does not directly support MacOS, so logically this issue would not exist on Windows.

It also heats up quite a bit after 1-2 hours of use.

I use it on an HP Probook G5 and indeed with the Linux Ubuntu operating system. It worked right away without any special effort, just with the installation of the relevant software.
