This book is yet another attempt to define (or redefine) the terms and boundaries of the interpretation of the two epics which, in any case, replace prophecy (essentially: religion) with narrative.

The art of mirroring, the strategies of anxiety, narrative synchronization, parallel actions and successive acts, the dialogue of the text with older narratives, the structure of epic storytelling as a meta-literary reflection emerge as critical Homeric and post-Homeric issues, often subsets of the ancient Homeric Question, and define the modern perception of time as a prerequisite for the unity of the epics.
