The first identical edition of "The Odyssey" from 1938, in 3,000 copies, sealed, numbered, and signed by the Publisher. 33,333 verses, with the adventures, both physical and spiritual, and the journeys of Odysseus after he returned to Ithaca and left again, until his death in the Southern Frozen Ocean. An Appendix is included with manuscripts from the poet, as well as an inserted Glossary, compiled by the creator himself.
A monumental collectible edition, paying tribute to our universal writer and his life's work. "I must take care of my body; otherwise, this work will bring me down," wrote Nikos Kazantzakis about his "Odyssey." This life's work of our universal writer is now "resurrected" exactly as it was first published in 1938, thanks to the first identical edition of 1938 from our Publisher and the adopted son of Eleni N. Kazantzakis, Dr. Patroklos Stavrou.
The 1938 edition was made in 301 copies, 24 with a letter of the alphabet on each (A-Ω) and another 277 numbered (1-277). All copies were then signed by the poet. Our collectible identical edition is released in 3,000 sealed, numbered, and signed copies by the Publisher-Editor. Along with it, there is also an identical insert, the ten-page Glossary of the Odyssey, which was compiled by Nikos Kazantzakis himself.
At the end of the Work, we added an Appendix, with related manuscripts from the poet, who made seven writings of the "Odyssey." The book has large dimensions (approximately 35.5 cm ? 25.5 cm, weighs 4.6 kg) and a hardbound cover and is placed in a box-case. It is a luxurious edition, characterized as a "collectible masterpiece of typographic art."
The ODYSSEY by Nikos Kazantzakis narrates the adventures and journeys of Odysseus after he returned to Ithaca, and then left again. "The heroes are sons of Olympus. And men, during their lives, strive to live like heroes. Thus was born this heroic Greece, in the history woven by Homeric struggles. Thirty centuries after Homer, Kazantzakis, a Greek, our contemporary, picks up the ancient theme of Odysseus and gives us one of the key works of the literature of our century.
Kazantzakis' "Odyssey" is a hymn to the greatness of man. To the fragile greatness of man. There is no point in human happiness that does not hide some sadness. Civilization increases the threats that "weigh down" absolute emotions. The Odysseus according to Kazantzakis is placed in the era of Homer. He suffers, endures, acts in the era of Kazantzakis.
"Kazantzakis has come. We now know that our age can also be the age of lyricism. And what lyricism!"
