The primary goal of this book is to provide a critical contribution to a better understanding of the sociopolitical context of the information society (IS) in the era of uncertainty. Its second goal is to support the need for the emergence and empowerment of an autonomous and politically unencumbered social movement, which will possess well-developed views on the IS, and specifically on information and communication technologies.
The central theme of the book is the information society in the era of uncertainty. To approach this topic, the cognitive area of security in information and communications is specifically utilized. This area has an inherently hybrid character. On one hand, it serves as a rich reservoir of potential means for achieving undesirable repressive goals by the forces of authoritarianism. At the same time, and conversely, it serves as a means of political autonomy and is a socially accepted recipient of technological creation.
