This book was developed by the intensivists of the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center. It is aimed at surgeons, anesthesiologists, rural or military doctors, and generally all colleagues dealing with surgical or emergency cases.

The purpose is to provide practical guidelines for the rational use of antibiotics across the spectrum of Surgery and Emergency Medicine. Useful instructions are offered for antimicrobial chemoprophylaxis, transphylaxis, empirical, and etiological administration of antibiotics.

Its goal is to limit the overconsumption of antibiotics without jeopardizing patient health.
