This is the first of two books that refer to the design and development of information systems, and aims to introduce the fundamental concepts of information systems and their role in the modern business environment.

The book is divided into four parts.

1. The first part introduces the concepts of information systems both in relation to the business environment and in relation to the methodologies used.

2. The second part provides a detailed discussion on the life cycle of information systems and its individual stages.

3. The third part focuses on key development issues related on the one hand to the organization and business planning, modeling processes, and the human factor, and on the other hand to the software and ready-made solutions available for the development of information systems.

4. The fourth part of the book is dedicated to the analytical presentation of the techniques used.
