The intoxicating atmosphere of meaning that resistance provided to those who acted against the dictatorship during those years cannot be transmitted unless one has felt it themselves. This feeling of profound meaning cannot be easily abandoned. Its loss, in the post-dictatorship era, I can describe more sensitively as the loss of a loved one or, more harshly, as the loss felt by a drug addict when their drugs are taken away. Many of those who lived in this atmosphere did not handle the loss well, meaning they did not mourn it.

Apostolos Doxiadis: Have you heard any struggles in our days that are considered unjust? For example, farmers went out and blocked the roads. What do they want? Money. From whom do they want the money? From me. "The struggle is just!" Why? If they want it, they must convince me, not forcefully. Isn't that right? Have you heard anyone say that a particular mobilization is unjust? That they disagree with it? I don’t know; I can’t think of any. Everyone is fighting. What are they fighting for? To get more money. Seriously? Is that the struggle they are supposed to be having? And whoever fights is good, even if they are harming people? But I want to ask: Where do we get the idea that all struggles are just? The belief that they are just is a child of the dictatorship.
