Wandering through the cemeteries, Elias Petrouplos from his teenage years observes, records his thoughts, sketches, collects illustrative material, and information from literature in an effort to read through the graves the history, language, society, and cultural expressions of people.
His obsession with these thoughts, which resurface at times in his poems and at other times in poetic essays or interviews he gives, is evident. He organizes a lifetime work around the triptych of Greek Tombs, Greek Cemeteries, and Death Stores.
A first album featuring graves that he hand-drew was published in a bibliophile edition and is dedicated to the memory of Aris Alexandrou. The album "Greek Cemeteries" - and not graveyards - which he crafted and edited almost until the end but did not manage to see printed, is published as he left it.
The handwritten work instructions are preserved so that the reader, leafing through it, can benefit not only from a stroll among the graves guided by the printed captions of Elias Petrouplos but also from a way of editing, that is, an additional reading of the work.
The poignant handwritten records of the author regarding the developments of his illness and the impending death are also preserved intact.
