The project method, the experiential approach to learning, constitutes a new teaching method for the Greek context. This book, which consists of two parts, a theoretical and a practical one, attempts a preliminary investigation into how it is applied in Greek kindergartens.
In the theoretical part, there is initially a summary of what will follow, and then two studies are described, conducted by two undergraduate students from the Department of Preschool Education and Educational Sciences at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, under the guidance of the author, related to the involvement with educational action plans (projects) in Greek kindergartens and the possible differentiations in the working methods of the kindergarten teachers, as a result of various factors (type of school, region, number of children in the class, studies and further training of the kindergarten teacher).
In the practical part, two work plans conducted by graduate students from the Department of Preschool Education and Educational Sciences at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki are initially presented. Following this, a presentation by the advisor of the 35th Region of School Counselor P.A. on how the application of the project method began and developed in her region is included. Then, eight work plans conducted by kindergarten teachers from this specific region are presented.
The aim of the book is for the reader to gain a more comprehensive picture of the application of the project method in our country and to draw ideas for possible implementation of work plans in their classroom, which is why it is believed that it will serve as a useful manual for future and current kindergarten teachers, school advisors, researchers interested in preschool education, particularly in this specific method, as well as parents.
