I have never used the accessory for lowering the temperature, so I can't give an opinion.
But as for the thermometer itself, I will say that in 5' it is very accurate.
In a test with a fever, even at 3' it showed almost the same temperature (a difference of 0.2 degrees), so 5' for the correct temperature.
