I bought the speakers on sale for €245 and I can say the following:
As regular speakers, they produce powerful and clear sound with enough dispersion, but due to their closed design, the bass is nothing special. Of course, these speakers are not meant to be used as basic speakers, but rather as height or Dolby Atmos speakers. That's why I bought them as well.
As Dolby Atmos speakers, placed on top of the main speakers in the specific room I have, even though the ceiling is flat at 2.7 meters, I don't think they provide a clear sound experience coming from above. Perhaps it requires a lot of experimentation to find the right position and angle for the best sound reflection. I also had to increase the speakers to +8 db to hear something coming from the ceiling. However, since I can still partially hear the sound coming directly from the speakers, it ruins the illusion that it's only coming from the ceiling. But in someone else's space and listening position, things might be better.
Now, when I elevated the speakers (I placed them temporarily high on the wall, above the main speakers), they gave a much better result. They are also very powerful speakers and had no problem handling it. The only issue with speakers placed like this is that you can still distinguish that the sound is coming from two speakers and not generally from above. While you gain better sound localization (when, for example, a helicopter passes from left to right, you can actually perceive the direction), you lose the diffusion of sound provided by reflection (if it worked better, that is). Personally, I prefer the Atmos demo with rain, for example, with the speakers placed lower, looking at the ceiling, rather than high up, looking at me.
As regular speakers, they are very good (like all DALI speakers). As Dolby Atmos speakers, if a cheaper Atmos speaker does a good job in the specific room where someone will place it, then the ALTECO speakers will definitely do better.
Τα ηχεία τα αγόρασα σε προσφορά 245€ και μπορώ να πω τα εξής:
Σαν απλά ηχεία βγάζουν δυνατό και καθαρό ήχο με αρκετή διασπορά αλλά λόγω του κλειστού τύπου το μπάσο δεν είναι τίποτα το ιδιαίτερο. Αυτά βέβαια τα ηχεία δεν τα παίρνει κανείς για βασικά ηχεία αλλά για ηχεία ύψους ή Dolby Atmos. Για αυτό το λόγο τα αγόρασα άλλωστε και εγώ.
Σαν ηχεία Dolby Atmos, τοποθετημένα επάνω στα κεντρικά ηχεία, στον συγκεκριμένο χώρο που έχω, αν και το ταβάνι είναι επίπεδο στα 2.7 μέτρα, δε νομίζω ότι παρέχουν μια ξεκάθαρη εμπειρία ήχου που έρχεται από ψηλά. Ίσως θέλει πολύ ψάξιμο βέβαια για να βρω τη σωστή θέση και γωνία για την καλύτερη ανάκλαση του ήχου. Επίσης αναγκάστηκα να αυξήσω στα +8 db τα ηχεία για να ακούω κάτι να έρχεται από το ταβάνι. Επειδή όμως ακούω εν μέρη τον ήχο να έρχεται και απευθείας από τα ηχεία, χαλάει η ψευδαίσθηση ότι έρχεται μόνο από το ταβάνι. Σε κάποιον άλλο με διαφορετικό χώρο και θέση ακρόασης όμως ίσως τα πράγματα να είναι καλύτερα.
Τα ηχεία τώρα σε ανεβασμένη θέση (τα έβαλα δοκιμαστικά να παίζουν ψηλά στον τοίχο, επάνω από τα κεντρικά ηχεία) δίνουν πολύ καλύτερο αποτέλεσμα. Είναι επίσης πολύ δυνατά ηχεία και δεν είχαν πρόβλημα να ανταπεξέλθουν. Απλά το θέμα με τα ηχεία τοποθετημένα έτσι είναι ότι πάλι μπορείς να διακρίνεις ότι ο ήχος έρχεται από δύο ηχεία και όχι γενικά κάπου από ψηλά. Κερδίζεις μεν σε καλύτερο εντοπισμό του ήχου (όταν δλδ περνά ένα ελικόπτερο από αριστερά στα δεξιά όντως καταλαβαίνεις την κατεύθυνση, χάνεις όμως στην διάχυση του ήχου που σου δίνει η ανάκλαση (αν δούλευε πιο καλά δλδ). Το Demo Atmos με την βροχή πχ νομίζω ότι μου αρέσει πιο πολύ με τα ηχεία χαμηλά να κοιτάνε στο ταβάνι παρά επάνω ψηλά να κοιτάνε εμένα)
Σαν απλά ηχεία είναι πολύ καλά (όπως και όλα της DALI). Σαν ηχεία Dolby Atmos, αν ένα φτηνότερο ηχείο Atmos κάνει καλή δουλεία στον συγκεκριμένο χώρο που θα το βάλει κάποιος, τότε σίγουρα τα ALTECO θα κάνουν καλύτερη.
