Description

My desire to create this book arose from my need to bring once again to light the journey and years of effort by women scientists to work independently in the field of Neuroscience in Greece and to promote, through their entire body of work, the truth.

In no way does this book constitute a sexist manifesto. In many of the interviews within the book, the contribution of men to the successful careers of women is also acknowledged.

However, it is a fact that women in science and research, both at European and national levels, continue to be a minority. A publication by the National Documentation Centre describes the findings of a related study in European countries and states that in 2014, in Greece, the percentage of women leading higher education institutions was 13.5%, those participating in scientific and administrative committees was 11%, and those holding leadership positions in some committees was only 5%.
