Description & Specifications

The main philosophy of solid waste management considers solid waste as a "resource of raw materials and renewable energy." Thus, the two key principles in solid waste management are "material recovery" and "renewable energy recovery." The European Union has set various goals to address central issues of the future. Safety, sustainability, and the environmental correctness of energy supply are among them, as well as resource efficiency.

The recovered wood addresses both of these central issues. The most important management options for recovered wood today are: - reuse or recycling as a secondary raw material - energy production.

The main objectives of this conference are to summarize: - the current state of the art for recovered wood management in Europe and the U.S. and - to improve the management of recovered wood in Europe towards higher common technical, economic, and environmental standards.
