This book embarks on a journey through modern Greek prose texts of the 19th and 20th centuries - from Patoucha and the First Love of I. Koundylakis, Eroica by K. Politis and the Correspondence of I. M. Panagiotopoulos, to The Garden of the Princes by N. Bakolas and The Siege by A. Kotsias or Little England by I. Karystiani - with the aim of exploring narration and its techniques.
In this sense, the studies in this volume operate within the theoretical framework of narratology; however, they are also permeated by a strong concern regarding the "temporality" of narration, which is evident in the attempt to position it "within" the text and the level of investigation of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of the narratives.
