It is not without particular emotion that I present to the public the current edition of the Symposium. It is the first volume of a series of publications, which, established in the year of the centenary of Adamantios Korais, the great leader of modern Greek philologists, fulfills what is, what ought to be the dream of every Greek philologist, for whom Antiquity is something more than a profession.
And it is the first book that I dare to present to a wider public as a sample of the way I have understood and loved Plato until now. Now that I see it printed, I feel, far from any conventional modesty, its shortcomings; others will find even more. Let them at least not deny me the love for my work.
