The book "Venus and Europe" by historian Kees Klok was first published in Dutch. The author, combining scientific rigor with simple and clear writing while touching on the boundaries of literature—a technique common in Western European historiography—managed to present the history of Cyprus from the Neolithic era to its recent accession to the European Union in about 200 pages in a concise, critical, and fascinating manner.
The absence of such a work from the Greek literature—especially from the perspective of a foreigner—was the main reason that motivated me to translate it.
