Description

Description

The G.Skill Value is aimed at demanding computer users, such as professionals in the field of video and image processing, designers, and those who require high performance from their computer.

DDR4

DDR4 is the fourth generation of RAM memory technology for computers. It replaces DDR3 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 2133MT/s to 4800MT/s, response time (CAS Latency) from CL 9 to CL 22, while its capacity has increased up to 32GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for response time (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with our motherboard specifications.

G.Skill Value provides speed at 2666MT/s, with CL19 and 8GB per memory module.

Compatibility

The DDR4 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Specifically, DDR4 is compatible with Intel Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake series processors and the latest Intel processors, as well as AMD Ryzen and Threadripper series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to make sure that your motherboard supports DDR4 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

The XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory, without the need for manual settings. The (XMP/EXPO) is easily activated from the BIOS, is available on certain RAM memories, and is supported by certain motherboards.

The G.Skill Value DDR4 RAM has (XMP 2.0) profiles with the following specifications:

  • Speed (XMP 2.0): 2666 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP 2.0): 19-19-19-43
  • Voltage (XMP 2.0): 1.20V

Cooling & Design

The low operating voltage combined with the low height of the memory, which is the ideal size to accommodate the large coolers of the processor, helps to keep the memories as well as the entire computer at a fairly low temperature even during the most demanding operations.

  • PURCHASED A YEAR AGO AND CRASHED WITHIN 2 MONTHS WITHOUT BEING AT 100% USAGE. STAY AWAY!!! (It's worth spending an extra 10-20€ for something better, like Corsair Vengeance LPX)

  • Easy to install, typical simple RAM for office use and for laboratory experiments - they have been tested in neural network training and other artificial intelligence and data science applications. The only possible downside is that the motherboard - MSI Z490 Pro - did not recognize them as dual sticks, but still the nominal size of the total memory is 16GB.
