In the early 2000s, a few months before the ten-year anniversary (August 22) of the death of the heroine and first Greek parachutist, the late Sonia - Sophia F. Stefanidou, and after I had completed the relevant research, I composed a brief historical monograph that referred to her life and actions.

This monograph was approved by the General Army Staff and was subsequently published in the esteemed magazine "Military Review" (September - October 2000 issue). Three and a half years after its publication, in February 2004, the Pontic publisher Mr. Anastasios Kyriakidis kindly requested my consent, as the author, to republish this historical monograph, this time independently, with the sole aim of making not only the legendary heroine more widely known among the Pontic Greek community but also her remarkable father, Dr. Philopimen Stefanidis, who hailed from Trebizond.
