I am pleased to introduce the present volume. According to its title, it is an analysis and rearrangement of the contents of twenty-eight textbooks for teaching Greek as a foreign language.[...]
The task of analyzing and rearranging these valuable textbooks into a series of tables, undertaken by the Lexicography Department of the Center for the Greek Language, was designed and carried out with great care and diligence by Ms. Voula Kitsa, a linguistics doctor, an educator and collaborator of the CGL, with the advisory assistance of Mr. Dimitris Koutsogiannis and my own supervision. The specific project was decided by the Board of Directors of the CGL to be published in a specific volume, which could help teachers-users of the books to easily and quickly identify the multiple handling of these linguistic phenomena within the hundreds of textbook pages. Indeed, thanks to this tool, the teacher will be able to choose texts, exercises, lexical and other observations with characteristics suitable for the level of their differentiated listeners from the treasure of the offered teaching materials. Because their contents are not only analyzed according to unified criteria and grouped, but also marked in terms of their compositional and difficulty level. With these terms, the goal of idealized, even personalized, teaching is favored. [...]
