This book of mine is different. Five thousand pages of previous writings focused on clinical medicine, mainly surgery. The latest edition referred to medical historical essays and socio-medical topics, such as the relationship between music and medicine, pain, the right to death and euthanasia, organ donation, cloning, honesty towards the patient, and other subjects of general interest.

However, in life, the doctor encounters real stories. Stories that relate to human pain, human tragedy. These are the situations that make medicine different from other sciences because it comes into contact with events that mark the beginning and the end of human existence: Birth, which generates hope for a just and productive life; health, which is a prerequisite for fulfilling our mission; and death, which is an account of our passage through this world.
