The switching power supply operates outside the audible frequency range to reduce hum, while the surface-mount circuit board layout helps limit unwanted noise.

The 6.35 mm headphone output lets you listen to records without switching on the amplifier. The subsonic filter reduces low-frequency noise that may be caused by warped records, while the balance control compensates for potential differences between the left and right channels.
