This 240-page edition presents the wonderful world of orchids from Crete and the Dodecanese, including 70 species and 23 subspecies, with 5 species considered doubtful or unstable. For each plant, there is a detailed description and reference to the habitats where it is found. It also mentions the species with which hybridization may occur, as well as potential confusions with other species and suggestions for differentiation. The description of each plant is completed with indications of flowering, a distribution map, and rich photographic material. A diagrammatic map is provided showing the distribution of orchids across 4 islands, as well as an analysis of the habitats, particularly those that include species threatened with extinction. Following this is a presentation of 86 different hybrids. In the final part of the book, a series of excursions are proposed to help the reader quickly become familiar with the amazing habitats of the orchids of the southern Aegean.
