The 3 stars are because the Vernier scale is incorrect. The markings for X,05 X.1 X,15 and X,2 millimeters are too far to the right. It simultaneously shows 0 and 0.25mm, 0.15mm and 0.9mm. This makes it impossible to measure objects that are slightly above a millimeter. So if something is 6.1mm, you can't read it correctly, it will read 6.3.
It's difficult to say exactly why because I don't have a known reference point. However, this is absolutely unacceptable for such a tool.
Edit: A friend got the same one and it was fine. So mine was defective. But still, unacceptable.
