"My First Book on Bilingualism" was created as part of a research program by the Department of Primary Education at the University of Thessaly, under the scientific supervision of the undersigned. Its goal was to utilize bilingualism and the multicultural nature of the modern Greek school for the intercultural and interlingual empowerment of children, educators, and parents, both of Greek and non-Greek origin.
This little book, for children of early school age, refers to childhood bilingualism, which is the ability to understand and/or use two or more languages by children when they grow up with different languages in their family environment or with a different language at home and at school. Beyond the linguistic and/or cognitive dimension for bilingual children, bilingualism also has social implications that concern the entire class, as well as the society that surrounds it. [...]
