1930s, in a typical English town. Dorothy, the daughter of the vicar, accompanies her eccentric father in a flat everyday life, in the oppressive environment of provincial small-town life, within a suffocating family and social routine devoid of the slightest excitement, only filled with obligations and insignificant duties.
Now she is absorbed in preparing the costumes for a school play, but an event in which she will become involved brings the most unexpected twist to her life. She loses her memory, forgetting even her name, and finds herself living the life of a street wanderer among the homeless of London, where she struggles to survive.
Forced to create a new self, she faces challenges and trials that are entirely new to her, requiring a courage for which she has not been prepared until now.
