With respect to human needs, within the framework of a cohesive social fabric and sustainable development, the mission of Education was to create well-rounded individuals who know how to "stand" as capable and honest members in the challenging conditions of the productive process, as well as to "exist" as thinking democratic citizens.
In a harsh era of the devaluation of the paramount Public Good of Education and through commercialization, it is our democratic duty and struggle to rescue this mission. The result of years of study and decades of practicing the educational, research, and administrative profession, this essay contains detailed and specific positions and proposals for the necessary deep reforms on many pressing educational issues of Greek and broader European society.
I am optimistic at the thought that when you present any clear opinions and specific solutions on education matters, there is some benefit: you place your finger on the real problems of the new generation, you short-circuit the reference to the future through dialogue on painless generalities, you maintain the possibility of timely solutions, the only realistic right to hope for a better future.
