Description

Description

"Music Theory and Practice" is compatible with current international literature and is adapted to the Greek reality. It is intended for the student or the music lover with no prior theoretical training, who wishes to gain productive knowledge of the basic terms, symbols, concepts, and functions of music theory.

It is the systematic and flexible manual for music theory classes in all educational institutions: Conservatories, Music Schools, Training Institutes, and Higher Institutions. The "Music Theory and Practice" series consists of 3 volumes, the first volume discussing theory and the second and third volumes containing exercises.

Chapters 1, 2 & 3 cover the fundamental elements that shape musical sound: notes, rhythm, and expression, while chapters 4, 5, and 6 examine the relationships that develop between musical notes: intervals, scales, and chords. Special attention is given to the rules of musical notation, classifications of musical instruments, and documentation of the scales of Greek traditional music.

The methodology proposed by the author encourages the student to take one step at a time. To begin studying from the example and then proceed to the understanding of the concept from the theoretical text. With the belief that acquired knowledge is solidified through practice, the two volumes of exercises contain numerous simple applications and creative problems, while activities for aural practice and composition are suggested.
