For the believers, the issue is never the historical, philosophical, or ethical problems, the truth, or, to put it more humbly, the possibility of truth, but their own problem.
They believe that they could not live without their faith. Although, as Indians for example, they might have a completely different faith. And as Africans again, different - a perspective that makes every faith relative from the start.
My life shows me that one can comfortably live without faith. And thousands of letters from readers, often shocking, testify that others can do so as well, and can live much better after abandoning their Christian faith, living much more freely - and indeed not more immorally than Christians.
