The writing of this book initially arose from the attempt to meet the teaching needs of a corresponding course at the University. Along the way, material and literature were gathered for a unit of Special Education, Psychomotricity, in order to cover a significant gap in the literature, both in theory and practice.
School, beyond promoting academic skills, should be a space for expression and creativity for every child, as only then can the "comprehensive and balanced development of their personality" be achieved.
The knowledge of motor and physical abilities is important not only for the child but also for the educator, as it contributes to the development of communication skills (verbal and non-verbal) and academic skills.
In this context, sections of General and Special Education were explored, specifically the relationship between learning - environment - movement. As theory supports practice and practice, in turn, confirms theory, a theoretical approach to the current data of psychomotor education in Special Education is initially presented.
Then, a practical proposal for the implementation of educational and therapeutic programs related to psychomotor education is presented. The book is aimed at educators in General and Special education, students of Pedagogical Departments and Special Education Departments, parents, and any specialist involved in the educational process who can use the principles of Psychomotor education.
