The following text aims to meet the needs of the compulsory course "Introduction to Biology" of the Bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Athens.

Transitioning from simple description to the analysis of the experimental approach to biological problems, an acquaintance with the "magic" of life is ventured. The presentation of the experimental foundation of our knowledge is critical. We must show students how we know what we know.

This will reveal the dynamic nature of science and prepare students to become not only active researchers and teachers but also educated members of a society that is increasingly called upon to tackle complex issues arising from the practical applications of biological knowledge, covering a vast range of human activities (diseases, nutrition, environmental pollution, etc.).
