Description

The Kaissa Hunt for the Ring board game is a hidden-movement strategy game in which one player takes on the role of Frodo and his companions, while up to four other players control the Nazgûl and try to hunt them down. The game is played across two chapters, each with a different board: in the first, Frodo attempts to travel from the Shire to Bree, while in the second, he continues from Bree to Rivendell. During the journey, Frodo and his companions must resist the Ring’s corruption.

If Frodo does not reach Bree within sixteen turns, he gains corruption points. If he succeeds, the second chapter can be played immediately or later, after recording the exit point and other game details. In the second chapter, the Frodo player draws journey cards showing different routes to Rivendell, rather than directly controlling the hobbits.

A great shame, in this game while it has a nice mechanism and plot (hidden movement), an awesome theme (LOTR) and incredibly high-quality content for its price, the rulebook, although detailed, is so confusing (the same goes for the English version) and it confuses you quite a bit with the moves in the game. The game is not balanced, in the first phase Frodo has a significant advantage and in the second phase the Nazgul have it, when it should have been more balanced.
Nevertheless, a big congratulations to Kaissa for the adaptation, very good production comparable to the English version.
