If it was done correctly, it could tighten just with its rubber, but as it is now, it needs Teflon tape. It is a technical mistake of the manufacturer. It is possible that the importer was aware of this and it made a difference in the price. It must be mentioned in the product instructions, as it involves food. The materials (faucet, flanges, cap, plug, etc.) may be certified for food, but as it seems, they are not enough and the buyer needs to take responsibility for which extra materials to use in order to properly screw the faucet and prevent it from dripping.
