Description

Sikinos is one of the lesser-known and less sung Cycladic islands. Next to the abundant presences of Naxos, Syros, Amorgos, or Santorini, Sikinos is a minimalist canvas with few but authentic elements, a truly bare landscape where the signs of a recently abandoned primal production system slowly fade away.

"Anabasis" has respectfully leaned over the body of Sikinos and mapped almost all the main paths of the island along with some secondary ones that are useful as connections.

The "Topo" series is the latest step in the long-term evolution of the mapping work by "Anabasis." The "Topo" series includes maps at scales of 1:100,000, 1:50,000, 1:25,000, and 1:10,000. The maps are made using the Greek Geodetic Reference System (EGSA 87), the national geodetic system that was implemented to meet the needs of major land registry and mapping programs in the country.

"Anabasis" strives to provide the best and most accurate mapping material. Thus, all work (creation of backgrounds, collection and mapping of field data, final map composition) is done with defined and strict quality and fidelity specifications that ensure the maximum possible accuracy for the specific scales.

In the "Topo" series by "Anabasis," two coordinate systems appear: - The grid framework at 1 km intervals in the Greek Geodetic Reference System. It is a complete rectangular grid (orange lines). The projected coordinates of EGSA are expressed in meters. - The crosses of geographic coordinates at 1 minute intervals in WGS84. These are the intersection points of meridians and parallels of the global geodetic reference system projected onto the map.

If you use the map in combination with GPS, you can locate your position based on the coordinates provided by the GPS without changing any settings.
