The content of the book refers to the secret action, as well as the tragic and heroic end of the leader of the organization "MIDAS 614", Ioannis Tsigantes, and the radio operators Konstantinos Roussos, Matthaios M. Andronikos, Theodoros Liakos, and Marios Daniilidis, during the dark years of the occupation that covered Greece like heavy clouds. The narration is based on testimonies of true events and incidents from the action of the national, secret resistance organization, of which the aforementioned heroic radio operators were members. The narration of the events ends on May 20, 1943, the date of the execution of the heroes Matthaios Andronikos and Theodoros Liakos by the Germans, in Kaisariani. However, the organization "MIDAS 614" continued tirelessly its heroic action in the national resistance against the conquerors, until the liberation of our homeland. In this book, for the simplification of the narration, many individuals in the text are referred to by their first name or one of the pseudonyms they used for cover, and the organization is often referred to as simply "MIDAS". The name "MIDAS 614" refers to the golden pounds that were given to the organization for its mission expenses. The number "614" was the code number of its leader, Ioannis Tsigantes, as all members of the organization had their own code number instead of names, in order to comply with the conspiratorial rules of the secret war.
