What is a brushless motor?

In DC electric motors, at the point where the electric current is supplied to their rotating part, two brushes (also called brushes or carbon brushes) are used. Over time, due to friction, the brushes wear out and need to be replaced. For this reason, in recent years, brushless electric motors have been developed, which far surpass a brushed motor.

Advantages

  • Due to the absence of brushes, they exhibit minimal mechanical wear and the need for maintenance is minimized.
  • They have higher efficiency
  • No noise and sparks are caused by friction
  • They achieve very high speeds

The machine is considerably smaller in size than it appears in photos or descriptions in videos on the website.
However, it is truly miraculous.
It feels very good in the hand, powerful, and it does what it promises very well.
I have even cut a 25 cm wide poplar trunk.
I recommend to those who have a permanent power supply nearby not to buy it with batteries.
They are expensive and they don't last long.
But if you absolutely want a machine with a battery, then you must definitely have with you 3-4 pieces of 5 Ah each, in order to be able to comfortably work for 45 minutes per hour.

Very good, lightweight. Just what you need for garden work, pruning olives, etc. The battery lasts quite a while, depending on the workload. Easy setup/change of chain, etc.

Very lightweight, easy, and extremely effective tool. Its use is for pruning as well as assisting in cutting wood for a wood stove (there are always some pieces that don't fit or are 'cut crooked'). Ideal also for cutting/disposal of wooden pallets, as well as any other soft wood (e.g. melamine, chipboard). Attention: the tool is NOT professional, it overheats relatively easily in the summer, and one original 5 Ah battery is sufficient for cutting about 60-80 pieces of wood with a 15cm cross-section—as long as we are referring to oak, or about three times as many with a 4-5cm cross-section when pruning olive groves. Very useful for anyone who has a stove/fireplace and wants to process their stock before burning. Excellent also for 'difficult' prunings, as it cuts everything very easily. Value for Money for a mini-chainsaw. The use of chain oil is essential, as is the attention not to overheat it.

When I bought it, I used it for half an hour casually and then it stayed on the shelf for a year and a half. When I needed it again, it worked for 5 minutes and then stopped. Now I'm waiting for a response from the authorized service, but from what they told me after an initial assessment, since it seems to be an electronic problem, the repair will cost more than buying a new one. In the end, it seems I threw away the 200 euros I spent on it.

Amazing tool. For the job I need it for - pruning olive trees - it is simply perfect. Powerful and lightweight, it works easily with one hand. I've had it for about a year during which it has cut many tons of wood without issues. It relies less on the motor's torque and more on the high speed of the chain to cut effectively, so we make sure to operate it without pressure and always with a well-sharpened chain. The only downside is that a 6.0 Ah battery will last about 15-20 minutes of continuous operation, so definitely more batteries are needed for serious work. I get about 3-4 hours of work in real conditions with 4x 6.0 Ah, the reason being that the chain doesn't operate when you're not cutting and when you are cutting, you don't run it continuously. If you have the (considerable) money to buy 8 large (5-6Ah) genuine (MONO) batteries, you can easily get a full 8-hour workday. You will be exhausted, but the Makita will keep chopping away relentlessly.

I burned mine. The board costs 170 euros, not covered by warranty. The lesson I learned is that it's not meant for heavy use. It's for pruning, not for cutting trunks. Don't let it struggle, overheat, and jam. Always keep the chain well lubricated to make its life easier. It's good to let it cool down if it consumes two batteries. I don't find it smart at all to have five batteries and use them consecutively, based on my experience. I give it 4 stars because I think it was my fault. Due to the fact that I have Makita batteries and the ease of use, I considered it and ended up buying Makita again, but a larger one. Consider the purchase price in relation to the longer warranty provided by the dealership with registration.

Amazing machine. Sturdy with good quality plastics, not Chinese. On a one-acre plot with 18 olive trees and shrubs, planted with grass and clones ranging from 3 cm to 8 cm, I cleaned it in about 6 hours very easily and comfortably. I used two 3 amp batteries alternately. Each one lasts for 15 minutes. Their charging time was about 35 minutes, so you can calculate work and rest. It didn't heat up at all. It cuts fresh branches like butter, not so much with dry ones. I bought it for 178 euros. Mine is made in Romania. I don't regret it.

It's a beast of a machine. I got it with a double charger and currently using 6 Ah batteries, but not from Makita (imitation). It's definitely worth the money. It makes a difference. Unbelievable experience after years of using a 40-inch gas-powered chainsaw. Attention: I put biodegradable chain oil on it and the oil pump broke. Now only regular chainsaw oil. Overall, it's perfect.

Small, lightweight, and powerful. It effortlessly cuts through small and medium branches (5 to 10 cm thick). For larger diameters, it requires the power of the air to cut (without excessive pressure).
Continuous operating time with a 3ah battery is approximately 15 minutes. Charging time is 30 minutes.
If you have spare batteries to replace, it cuts non-stop.
    It is worth its money.

  • Very good, lightweight. Just what you need for garden work, pruning olives, etc. The battery lasts quite a while, depending on the workload. Easy setup/change of chain, etc.

  • Very lightweight, easy, and extremely effective tool.

  • When I bought it, I used it for half an hour casually and then it stayed on the shelf for a year and a half.

  • In its price range, it is the best there is. You can cut anything from branches to relatively large trunks. It is lightweight and very easy to use. Truly a very good purchase!

  • Amazing tool.
