Description

The first volume of the complete and revealing biography of Georgios Papadopoulos covers his life from his birth in 1919 until the eve of his Prime Ministership in 1967. Through 628 pages with confidential files and unpublished photographic material, the work analyzes his actions during World War II, his military career, and the events that led to the 21st of April.

From Elaiochori to the Epic of '40

Volume A begins with the early years of Georgios Papadopoulos in Elaiokhori and his studies at the Hellenic Military Academy (1937-1940). It focuses in detail on his presence at the front during the Epic of 1940-41, the Occupation period, and his actions during the Civil War (1945-1949), where he was described by his superiors as a "phenomenal officer" with exceptional intelligence and administrative talent.

The Journey to April 21st

The book analyzes the turbulent political period of 1961-1967, from the "Unyielding Struggle" and the ASPIDA affair to the July events of 1965. It describes the journey towards the revolution, the planning of the "PROMETHEUS" plan, and the critical days of April 1967, offering a detailed record of the moves that led to the establishment of military rule.

Critical National Events & Counterrevolution

Special emphasis is given to behind-the-scenes events that marked Greek history, such as the crisis in Kofinou and the withdrawal of the Greek division from Cyprus.
