Owner since August 2020. I use it on my motorcycle. Overall, it captures good videos (I don't use it for photos). It has good stabilization (with a ram mount), but sometimes loses it in low light conditions. I have taken nighttime shots in the center of Thessaloniki without any special settings and the results were very good. It is very convenient that the image can be flipped for vertical or upside-down shots (I have it mounted upside down on my helmet with the lens at the bottom). The build quality is very good. It fell from my motorcycle at a speed of 60-70 km/h on asphalt and the only thing it suffered was a small scratch on the corner of the square lens cover. As for accessories, I would recommend the original GoPro ones, especially the cheap mounts that break very easily. One negative aspect is the price (purchased for 300 euros) for a two-generation-old model. However, the biggest problem that could render the camera useless is the battery. With the Wi-Fi on to connect the camera to the phone, it drains very quickly. In a distance of 30 km from my house in the city center (with Wi-Fi off at 1080p), opening and closing the camera or continuously recording videos will almost completely drain the battery by the time I get home. It will be impossible to use it for continuous shooting on a trip until you reach a charging point. So, when considering the price, calculate around 60 euros extra for the GoPro charger and an extra battery so you can charge one while using the other (possibly also a power bank). Overall, it is a very good camera and I would recommend it (at a more reasonable price of 200-250 euros), but keep in mind the weak battery.

I won't mention the positives, as you all know that it has incredible stabilization and video resolution. I will mention a few minor issues, one of which is occasional freezing that thankfully can be resolved by pressing both buttons simultaneously! Additionally, the packaging only includes the case (which is necessary because it has the mount on it) and a helmet mount base. I think they could have included an arm or two for adjusting how you want to secure the camera on a helmet or elsewhere. But obviously, they don't include it so you can buy extras... at least one should be included though! Also, the battery is Good to Average... when you go somewhere, it's a must to have a power bank or extra battery with you because if you try to shoot any 4K videos, it drains quickly.

Nevertheless, this camera performs exceptionally well! I have to admit that I was impressed by the capabilities of the touch screen... you can even view the footage you just captured from the camera itself and delete it on the spot, plus many other features and settings changes that with another action camera, you would have to open an application to do. This gives you the ability to not constantly deal with connecting your phone and changing settings from there... very user-friendly camera! The slow-motion feature is also incredible! The same goes for the stabilization... I go to the mountains on my motorcycle and the stabilization is ten times better than an 80-100 euro action camera I had. For me, it's the perfect camera for its price, and I don't think it's necessary for anyone to go for a GoPro Hero 8-9... if you see comparisons, they have minimal differences! The extra 100+ euros for the 9 are not worth it.

Owner of the GPH7 Black here for 4 months, purchased from the official GoPro website for 250€ on sale. (Former owner of the yi 4k+). I will try to give a brief analysis of the camera based on my own experience, which I use for capturing sports footage (parkour, skateboarding) and as a travel camera, as well as provide some tips for those considering buying it.

-Portability: It goes without saying that an action camera can fit anywhere, suitable for travel and everyday outings. You can literally put it in your pocket with a mini tripod. I recommend getting a grip for comfortable handling during shots, such as the GoPro 3way tripod (there are Chinese alternatives for those on a budget).
-Build quality: Having previously owned the yi 4k+, although it was a very good camera, its plastic construction cannot be compared to GoPro. You can feel from the grip that you have a sturdy and high-quality camera. Additionally, the fact that it is waterproof is a major selling point! Its lens protector is also replaceable, unlike the GPH8 Black, which is a significant reason why I didn't choose it. When used in the sea without a waterproof case, it should be rinsed immediately with fresh water to prevent corrosion from salt. Personally, because I forgot to do so, there is still some salt residue and opening the battery and port covers has become slightly more difficult. Also, keep it away from SAND! I still struggle to remove some grains that have gotten stuck in certain crevices. Lastly, I noticed that the screen doesn't have particularly good touch response. In water, it is very difficult to operate, so we lock the screen.
-Software: The interface is very user-friendly and easy for anyone to use. The functions and camera settings can be changed quickly and easily. The Superphoto mode for photography produces incredible HDR photos and is not afraid of direct sunlight during the day. In videos, I rarely experience small lags in 4K quality, but this is very rare. Finally, the software often presents various bugs (such as freezing) but a restart always fixes it.
-Battery life: While GoPro is not known for its battery life, personally I haven't had any issues. Of course, in my daily use, I have all the functions that may drain the battery turned off (wifi, GPS, voice commands, camera beeps, quick capture) and mainly shoot in 1080p. Recording in 4K significantly drains the battery. With a second battery, I have no problem and easily get through a day. Also, due to their small capacity, they charge very quickly with a power bank. Here, I would like to talk about the camera overheating. Even when transferring files for 10 minutes, the camera really heats up. 4K heats it up easily, I don't know what consequences this will have in the long run.
-Photos: I didn't expect the quality to be this good. I could compare it to a high-end smartphone from the previous year in terms of daytime shots. The HDR is incredible and the photos have a lot of detail. Nighttime photos are not recommended, however, with the night mode function, one can easily achieve satisfactory results by adjusting the shutter speed and using a tripod. It is possible to take astrophotography shots, but don't expect too much. It also captures RAW files for photos (for editing in software outside the camera with greater detail). It has various burst modes up to 30 photos/1sec. Finally, it has a timelapse Photo function, as well as a timelapse Night Photo function. By setting the interval to 5sec and above, one can also take RAW photos in timelapse.

- Video: The reason why most people want it. The video quality is simply fantastic, 4K with a 78mbps bitrate, the video has incredible detail. For this reason, a microSD card with fast recording is recommended. And of course, Hypersmooth Stabilization. The main selling point of the camera when it was first released. I no longer feel the need to carry a gimbal with me since the stabilization is fantastic. The slow motion at 1080p is also very good, 120fps with standard stabilization and 240fps without. The new timewarp feature is also very good for easily creating hyperlapse (moving timelapse) shots.

In conclusion: I highly recommend this camera and prefer it over the GPH8 Black. I believe that while they are almost identical in terms of construction, it is only a software update that I don't know if it's worth the money (+80€ difference when I bought it). In a smaller difference of less than 50, you might reconsider, but the fact that its cap lens doesn't change bothered me a lot. I can't compare it to the DJI Osmo Action because I don't have an opinion. However, I give it 4 stars because there is still room for improvement. We are looking forward to the GPH 9 Black soon

I have had it for 1+ year, I bought it to shoot videos with the car and I have recorded over 150 hours of footage.
Regarding the video:
Its quality is very good and with excellent stability when the camera is mounted on a relatively stable surface (windshield, helmet, etc.), but not so much if you hold it in your hand. I also bought the GoPro 3Way, but I use it as a tripod in unboxing videos and not to shoot videos in motion.
The photos are also very good and come out great even if you are completely unfamiliar with photography (like me).
It has 3 shooting options: Superwide (ultra-wide shot and although the image distorts at the edges, it remains impressive), wide (classic wide shot), and linear (normal shot).
In night videos, it is terrible, but it has good timelapse and night mode for photos.
Technically, it is small in size and its construction is average to good. I say average because the doors sometimes get stuck and either do not open properly or do not lock properly.
The battery of the Hero 7 overheats very easily (I have not tried it with the Hero 8 battery to see if there is a difference) and easily reaches 70+ degrees.
It freezes very often and I have to remove the battery and put it back in for it to work.
It does not always connect properly to the application and it turns off the WiFi and Bluetooth of my phone (Galaxy A70) on its own.
Previously, it had a serious issue with battery drain while it was turned off, but software updates have limited it considerably.

Owner of the gopro hero7 black here for 4 months now, my first action cam, bought to be used in conditions where my mirrorless camera couldn't (e.g. sea, rivers, and steep mountain passages where you can't take the camera out of the backpack while the gopro remains simply mounted on the head). After a lot of research, I ended up with the 7 and not the 8 mainly because of the risk of breaking the lens glass in a fall, which is not unlikely at all. I had read several reviews talking about freezing and a battery that doesn't last long, so I bought a second battery from the beginning and I'm using it with a Kingston 64GB V30 A1 SD card. So far, thankfully no freezing and I never had to format the card. The battery requires proper management (reduced brightness, GPS off, etc., but also turning it off between shots).
I won't say much about its capabilities, others have said it before me, but with a good set of accessories, it's a real "weapon". In good lighting conditions, it takes decent photos and quite good and stable videos. My main issue is the connectivity with my phone (Galaxy S7), it disconnects quite easily and the pairing is relatively slow.
Definitely a purchase I don't regret and maybe I should have made it sooner. Just make sure before you get it that it makes sense for you to go for an action cam and not a DSLR, for example, because if you want it for photos, especially in low light conditions, it's definitely not the best choice. But if you buy it for its intended purpose, it will definitely not disappoint you!

Owner of hero 5 and many other action cams for over 7 years, I have to say that I was both impressed and disappointed with this camera. I went ahead and bought it by selling my hero 5, and what I noticed was that the build quality didn't seem as good (it's still good, but not as good as the hero 5). GoPro once again didn't disappoint us in terms of video and image quality, which is truly out of this world, especially in good lighting. Low-light shots are difficult and the result is not as good. The hypersmooth and time wrap features are truly game changers and the difference from the hero 5 is noticeable. The battery is an issue that concerns permanent GoPro users and it's not sufficient for long shots (you will definitely need a second, maybe even a third separate battery). It's unpleasant that there are still lags and overheating issues, just like in previous cameras. I have found myself in situations where I had to remove the battery in order to get the camera working again after it froze. The price is high, but with proper handling, you can achieve extremely good shots. I have used it in water, on mountain bikes, snowboarding, and more, and the result is awesome. It's a good camera that will deliver beautiful results. Taking into consideration all the little problems I mentioned, I believe it's worth buying this camera, especially at a price below 300 euros.

It is an excellent action camera. The video quality is fantastic and you don't need to have it in 4K unless you are viewing it on a 55-inch 4K TV. Otherwise, you won't notice a difference even in lower resolution. The photos are also very good. The build quality gives you the feeling that what you are holding is durable. For simple activities, you don't need the protective case worth ~50€. Whatever the reason you will use it for, it will cover and satisfy you completely. Especially the hypersmooth feature. Finally, I would like to mention another important positive characteristic, which is the connectivity, either with iPhone or MacBook and obviously with android and windows. The wireless connectivity literally frees your hands. The negatives are that it heats up relatively quickly and the battery doesn't last long, which forces you to go to the next negative, which is to buy an additional battery and a fast charger. In other words, it is necessary to purchase a case, an extra battery with a charger, and a set of mounting accessories with the camera. But it is worth its money and more.

Great caution, kids, never trust her. She may never capture unique moments and videos because she simply freezes.
I use it for underwater shots with my spear gun. I have lost many shots, such as a grouper shot, because it simply froze. It would record normally until the first minute, then the image would freeze and only the sound would be recorded. Of course, you realize all this later, on the surface or when you get home.
It also freezes and turns the screen green or black depending on the time. It can be unfrozen by pressing the two buttons for a long time, but there is a chance that it won't unfreeze, so you have to remove the battery, which is impossible in the sea. Therefore, you are forced to carry with you a useless product with a black bright screen, losing your fishing shots.
All the things I read about restarting, reinstalling any updates, formatting the card, and resetting the camera are all ineffective. I have tried everything. And my card is a sandisk, one of the fastest on the market for 4K videos, and I constantly format it from the computer and the camera. I have done several resets and restarts on the camera, but it still experiences freezes. The videos I record are at most 2-3 minutes long, so it's not a temperature issue causing the camera to freeze due to heat, nor is the sea water warm since it froze in November with a water temperature of 21 degrees.
I write all this so that the new user knows what to expect and what they can lose from such an expensive and unreliable product.
Not to mention the connection problems with the tablet, where they are sometimes found and sometimes lost for no reason. You can easily waste your time trying to connect them, and eventually they connect, but for no reason, you can't see your shots. And again, restarting, disconnecting-connecting, hoping they will find each other (all at 2.4GHz)... The best thing is to remove the SD card, copy the files to the computer, and end the connections.
As for the quality of the shots, it is good in sunlight, but as it gets darker, the quality decreases, and during hypersmooth stabilization, the image quality drops significantly with several pixels in the frame.

It captures amazing videos and photos during the day. It has been used in snowy environments, underwater shots in lakes and the sea.

After 8 months of moderate to low usage, it broke down, displaying horizontal lines flickering on the screen, which then turned black, as if something electronic had burned out. The camera was still functioning, but due to the screen issue, it couldn't be operated.

I contacted GoPro directly through live chat, followed their instructions, returned it for free, and within 9 working days from the day I sent the old one back, they sent me a new one according to the warranty. They assured me that it was not refurbished or something similar, but a new one that had been checked for any issues. Hopefully, that is true. It did come in special packaging and looked new.

For the price of over 500+ €, one would not expect it to break so easily, but the positive attitude and the replacement process without much difficulty pleasantly surprised me.

I hope this time no issues arise and it can justify its price. :)

Good evening everyone, I belong to those who went straight into the deep end and jumped from a 50 euro action camera (Campark) to a 450 euro camera.

Simply put, I am neither a YouTuber nor a techie, so I won't go into details to analyze the specs, etc. What interests me is to give you a concise and straightforward review so you can understand if it's worth buying.

I have used it experimentally as a dash camera and for fun, mainly for underwater shots and occasional photos and videos in water. Therefore, I cannot say that it has been tested in all its capabilities, and definitely not in extreme sports as we see on the internet.

Video: In my opinion, there is nothing better in an action camera, having used cameras with a lower budget, as well as Xiaomi Yi, Hero 3-4-5 that I have tested myself. The main reason for buying this gem is obviously the Hypersmooth Video or simply the stabilization. It has fantastic clarity in all ranges, and depending on the fps and the post-processing part you want to achieve, you can choose the combination of resolution and frame rate. It will leave you amazed at what it can do.

Sound: The sound is on point, satisfactory even in particularly noisy environments such as the car dashboard during a trip. It is clear and crisp.

Photos: I don't want to believe that there is anyone who buys a camera for still photos, BUT...since we all found ourselves at the beach and wanted to take an underwater photo of a loved one, I can say that the quality of the video, clarity, sharpness, etc., is the same for the photo.

Build Quality and Complaints: If you have ever held an action camera in your hands, especially several from different manufacturers, ONLY then will you understand what the quality of a GoPro means. The camera feels compact in hand, with a weight that inspires confidence in its construction materials, unlike the plastic of other manufacturers. The texture is fantastic, it doesn't stain or collect dust, and it comes with a good basic protective case that is reliable for regular use.

I have read and heard that it overheats and freezes, etc. I don't know if I am lucky or if others have had issues. Personally, during 1 hour of shooting at 2.7K 24fps and corresponding frames at 4K with all features enabled, the camera DOES get warm, but it didn't turn off, freeze, or catch fire as some say... It is logical and expected for such a small construction without ventilation and internal cooling to heat up when exposed to the sun. However, in the water, when I took it out, its temperature was low. The only relatively negative aspect is its battery, but if you buy such a tool, it won't cost you much to get 1-2 more genuine or aftermarket batteries.

In conclusion:
It is an expensive toy, it requires attention because its repair is costly. It is definitely not for the average user who takes a bike ride in the neighborhood or uses it as a dashcam. Not for any other reason, but the cost of it will never be justified.

If you want it for diving, spearfishing, skiing, snowboarding, extreme sports, and similar activities, and your goal is to capture memories, don't think twice, it is simply fantastic!

After 2-3 months of use:
The camera remains flawless and I stand by everything I said above, the Android Application I used in combination with the camera is simply fantastic, it functions as a remote, as a video editor with several presets, it is easy, useful, and saves you from editing on your desktop or laptop computer, which is obviously equally important, especially when 90% of people want to upload what they captured immediately without delays.
