This book aspires to serve as a "guide" for a proper introduction to modern Greek prose. It aims to assist the reader in becoming better acquainted with modern Greek prose and its discourse, with significant prose writers and their works, as well as with the technique and art of narrative writing and reading.
In the first part, it provides fundamental elements of narratology in a simple and comprehensible way, and briefly outlines the evolutionary path of modern Greek prose from 1830 to 1990, in conjunction with literary movements and historical life.
In the second part, by presenting noteworthy authors and significant works, it seeks to demonstrate their importance for prose literature and for our broader education. The appendix contains selected "samples of writing" from the examined works, so that the book's broader educational purpose can be achieved more adequately.
