The purpose of this book is to serve as a resource for students of the Department of Geology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, who are studying the course of Vertebrate Paleontology. For this reason, the content and material have been organized and structured to meet this goal.

However, it can also be used by others who are interested in Paleontology.

This book is an evolution of a series of lecture notes that were first written in 1989 and 1990 and have since been improved and enriched with new elements and data, until they took their current form.
