Description

Description

The exceptional optical performance of this full-frame NIKKOR Z S-Line lens sets new standards for f/1.8 lenses. With brightness and detail that surpasses the f/1.4 prime lenses that have come before.

Increase the light

The ultra-wide Z mount of Nikon gives the NIKKOR Z lens the ability to capture more light across the entire frame. Combined with the short distance between the mount and the sensor, light loss at the edges of the frame is significantly reduced. The result is new possibilities for capturing details and shades, right to the edges.

Greater Sharpness

Top-notch reproduction of point light sources, such as street lighting at night, is achieved by minimizing the halo reflection phenomenon. Point light sources appear as fine round points, even at the edges of the image.

Free Focus

The NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S lens delivers impressive performance when shooting with available light. Combined with its crystal-clear focus and close focusing distance of just 0.4 m, you can fully utilize the natural 50 mm perspective. Capture your subject along with part of the surrounding environment. Or focus closer for more detailed portrait and bust shots.

  • I am very satisfied with the purchase.
I am not a photographer, but I consulted a professional and he recommended a lens with these features. I checked the new ones and ended up choosing this Nikkor Z 50/1.8 S.

One of the best, if not the best 50mm f/1.8.
Good quality construction, very good color reproduction, lightweight, very good focus even in low light conditions, very nice bokeh and SHARP!!!
The lens really has the same excellent sharpness at almost all of its apertures, especially in the center but also in the corners of the frame, from f/1.8 to f/8 on the z6ii, it hasn't disappointed me even once!
During cashback periods, around 600 euros new is a good deal, especially for what the lens has to offer, both for professional and amateur use.

First of all, let me clarify that I have worked with the Nikon F 50 1.8 on both crop and full-frame bodies. The differences are huge. And not only compared to the old Nikon 50mm, but also compared to all the other 50mm 1.8 lenses out there, except for the Zeiss 55mm 1.8 emount.
Tremendous sharpness and wide open it becomes razor-sharp at f/5.6.
Very good color rendition with exceptional microcontrast and strong focus falloff. The bokeh is also at high levels.
In short, this lens is pro-grade. It is easily used for professional work without putting it on the same level as the 1.2 lens.
It is not the classic "nifty fifty". It is an excellent lens that is aimed at people who will appreciate it and will not regret the 700 euros. (I got it for 630 euros with the June Cashback)

For anyone who simply wants to upgrade from the kit lens, there is also the Nikon 50mm 2.8 and the Viltrox 50mm 1.8, which are more affordable.

I would definitely buy it again!

The difference from the equivalent Nikon for F mount is clearly huge. Heavier than the equivalent F, but what was heard at its launch that it is if not the best, one of the best 50mm f1.8 is true. Ideal for street, portraits, and all-around use. Fast, not the fastest but satisfactory and silent. Worth the purchase.

Heavy and large lens for the "nifty fifty". Coming from the M43 system, it seemed huge to me. On the Z6, it is relatively balanced, but I definitely need two hands to handle it. Also, due to its size, it attracts attention, making it more difficult to use for street photography.
As for the build quality, it is very good, with excellent focusing and image quality.
