In this study, the current issue of educators' education is addressed as a factor in their professional development. The programs of initial education and training of Gymnasium and Lyceum educators are critically analyzed and their characteristics are interpreted within their historical and cultural context. In order to delve into the problems presented by the field of educators' education in the Greek educational reality and promote its understanding, the corresponding field of the English educational reality is critically examined.
For the purposes of this study, primary data regarding the programs, legislative framework, educational policy, ideological terms, and terms of discussion regarding the education of secondary education educators were collected and analyzed.
