Description

Description

"Greece of the Trains" is a journey where the iron rails carve the landscape and become one with it. From Kalamata to Ormenio of Evros and from Pelion to Meteora, 23 Greek and foreign train photographers take us to the soul of Greece: plains and forests, mountain slopes and gorges, picturesque villages and small towns, habitats and historical sites, all unfold before us as the train rolls on the tracks. At the same time, it aspires to be a documentary, with photographs of almost all types of engines or railcars, many of which have been retired. Additionally, many of the 270 color photographs depict places that no longer exist or have been altered, as well as sections of lines, bridges, and stations that have been abandoned, because the continuous modernization of the network radically changes the railway character of the Greek landscape.
