In March 1948, 28,000 Greek children were forcibly taken from their family homes and driven to various countries behind the Iron Curtain to suffer the violent wave of Slavicization.
For this heinous crime, which put the endurance of the nation to a great test, all the hearts of the parents were stirred, and foreign people expressed their revulsion at this inhumane act and stigmatized the crime.
Greek mothers found themselves faced with the dilemma of whether to become mothers or not, and many clearly expressed their intention never to become mothers again in the face of the prospect that if they became mothers in the future, their children would be taken away by others, and they would be left only with the title of parent!
