Description

Description

Sage is known worldwide by various names. The ancient Greeks used it for snake bites as well as a general tonic for the mind and body. Dioscorides recommended it for bleeding, irregular menstruation, and more. The Romans called it the "Sacred plant" and the doctors of the Salerno school believed that "whoever has sage in their home does not fear death."

Preparation Instructions

  • In the Kitchen: Adds flavor and aroma to sauces and meats.


  • As an infusion: 20 grams of leaves and flowers in one liter of boiling water. Let it steep for 10 minutes. Drink up to 3 cups a day. Sage should not be consumed every day, as it may cause mild poisoning, palpitations, or headaches. Women who are breastfeeding should not drink sage, as it can make their milk bitter.
