George Alifantis, a lecturer at the University of Piraeus and a former Certified Public Accountant, presents the legislation for year-end accounting work (Articles 1 to 28 of Law 4308/2014 regarding Greek Accounting Standards). He analyzes these provisions based on accounting and tax science related to the inventory of the economic unit's assets, including new solutions for the valuation of fixed assets with the new solutions: a) from ELTE regarding depreciation, and b) from the tax administration regarding the depreciation of transformed companies.
The book includes new chapters regarding the depreciation of acquired fixed assets through finance leases, the revaluation of real estate, where a detailed example is presented, the valuation of biological assets, and the accounting for deferred tax on depreciation and provisions.
Additionally, it presents the valuation of investments and securities, as well as inventories, where the accounting and tax presentation of losses from disasters and inventory devaluation is also developed, with new accounting and tax solutions.
Furthermore, it addresses the valuation of own shares and other equity items, the valuation of receivables, where an assessment due to the debtor's entry into pre-insolvency restructuring has been added, the valuation of foreign currency, asset impairment, and provisions for potential liabilities.
The book has a special chapter that develops the taxation of profits (distributed and undistributed) based on the provisions of Law 4172/2013 and their distribution by public limited companies, limited liability companies, and general and limited partnerships, where the opinions of ELTE regarding the remuneration of board members (distributed and undistributed) are also presented.
