The book "A Citizen Remembers" is exactly what its title suggests. It narrates the life of Simos, a simple citizen of Constantinople, from the tender age of five when he becomes aware of the world around him, to the mature age of fifty-six, when he permanently leaves the City.

Through the description of his own life, the story of over half a century of a unique city, Constantinople, unfolds before us, a familiar yet foreign land, Turkey. The Asia Minor catastrophe, World War II, the property tax, Twenty Ages, the September events, deportations. Significant events that marked the fate of our people, seen not from the scholarly perspective of a historian, but from the viewpoint of a sensitive individual who experienced them, holding in his heart and mind those moments that left an imprint on him.
