Key features:
The Roadstar TRA-2340PSW portable radio receives stations on the AM, FM and SW bands and features a digital tuner. It stores up to 20 stations, with four buttons for favourite stations, and supports automatic and manual tuning. The LCD display and alarm clock complete its features.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
Users generally appreciate its very good reception and solid build quality, and several mention its powerful, clear sound. It’s easy to use, stores stations, and can run on either mains power or batteries, even in areas with poor reception. However, the sound may distort at high volume, and some users have raised concerns about the large batteries and the display indicator.
What stands out is the strong reception. I have placed it in a "difficult" ground floor room, where the concrete all around together with the reinforcement almost creates a Faraday cage! Nevertheless, it receives stations very well that other radios in its category can't even detect....
Very good sound and reception. Be careful with the batteries it requires - they are expensive and a bit rare (you might find an adapter for AA). Recommended for power.
It doesn't have good sound.
It distorts the sound from the middle of the volume and above.
The power cable is at the back and in the center, making it easy to tip over and impossible to place against a wall.
From the second day, it started to cut out.
I bought it because of the good reviews and I wonder why none of the previous friends commented on the major drawback (at least for me) it has... Specifically, when it is in operation, it "forces" you to only see the time and does not show you the station you are listening to.
Something that is annoying and unfortunately cannot be changed, because it does not give you such an option...
(Verified by the Authorized Service I asked).
Apart from the connection to the socket with the cable included in the package, it takes 3 large LR20 batteries or otherwise "D".
The sound is clear and loud but that's about it... It lacks the sweet tone and melodiousness!
However, this is perfectly normal for the price I bought it for, which is €27, which is value for money for a digital radio.
After some research, I returned it (due to the drawback I mentioned above) and got the slightly more expensive AKAI APR - 200 instead, which reminds me of the good old days of the company... both in terms of ease of use and performance!
Very good quality construction.
My space is a bit strange for radio signal.
Overall, it has great intensity and works with electricity or batteries.
It's worth it!
It has very good reception. The advantage is that it is both electric and battery-powered, it is quite high quality in construction and sound. It is worth its money.
I have a cottage in Keratea, next to me is a hill that makes it difficult for me to receive anything. Whatever I had from portable radios, I couldn't catch anything. So I decided to get this one. It catches perfectly despite the obstacle. I imagine that if I didn't have the obstacle, it would catch even up to China!! I highly recommend it without a second thought!!!
