  • Excellent choice for a real regular espresso coffee machine. I take away one star due to the drip tray and the mesh, which have some peculiarities. However, for this price, I consider these to be secondary. Combined with a good grinder and a little effort, you will enjoy very good coffee.

Good machine but disappointing in the details. Try removing the drip tray 2-3 times before it fills up to understand the trick, because when it fills up it will be too late. The top lid of the water tank needs a little tape to prevent it from vibrating when the machine is in operation. The rubber feet are not well attached to the machine and are made of very soft material, so they leave marks on the countertop. Overall, the external construction is not well done. As for the internals, we will see after a year or two.

Except for the lack of PID, it is otherwise a professional machine in miniature, which is manufactured in Italy and not in a factory in Shenzhen, China. It is made of stainless steel with a brass boiler, pipes, and portafilter, which is 57mm. It has a three-way valve and adjustable OPV, everything you need for professional results.
The instructions state that it heats up in a few minutes, but in order for all its subsystems (pipes, grouphead, etc.) to heat up properly, you should wait about a quarter of an hour and run some hot water through the portafilter before making the first coffee of the day. This way, you will have better temperature stability and repeatability in good espresso shots.
Compared to the cheaper PL41EM, this one has a better steam wand, illuminated pressure gauge, and high durability industrial switches.
In summary, you are buying an investment machine that will last for many years. Pair it with a good espresso grinder and you will never have to worry. At €489 (from barista), it has no rival.
