In June 2016, the Orthodox Church "convened" at the Orthodox Academy of Crete. It convened in the dual sense of the word: it gathered in dialogue and regained its apostolic consciousness and ecumenical responsibility. The very event of the assembly at the Holy and Great Council, as the gathered Orthodoxy confessed in the significant "Message" sent to the world, opened its horizon to the modern multifaceted oikoumene and emphasized its responsibility within space and time with a view towards eternity.
The book follows the interesting and serious developments in ecclesiological reflection both during the pre-conciliar journey and during the Council itself, placing special emphasis on exploring the possibilities that open up, if they do, after the Council of Crete for addressing the "ecclesiological challenge" and continuing the ecumenical journey of Orthodoxy in the 21st century.
